WHY SPAIN IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE
30 MAR 21
Every year tons of Europeans head to Spain for the sunshine and the sea, and to escape the dark, cold winter of their home country. Moving to Spain is a dream come true for those who are looking to find the perfect property and are wanting to relocate to one of the most exciting and welcoming places in the world.
Whether you want to laze about in the Mediterranean sun, explore beautiful historic buildings and architecture, or simply indulge in a good cup of coffee and relax, then Spain could be the perfect place for you. For expats, at this time, Spain is at the most affordable that it has been in decades.
Spain has so much to offer, from great weather and friendly locals to the Spanish cuisine and incredible architecture. But this only scratches the surfaces of why Spain is an incredible place to live. Let's explore what all this beautiful country has to offer.
Investment opportunities
If you want to diversify your investment portfolio on an international level, Spain is a top destination to do just that. Because of the 2013 economic recession that took place, property prices dropped drastically which led to very affordable real estate prices for foreigners whose own finances were left unaffected. Although the economy has improved significantly since then, there are still great property investment opportunities with great ROI and capital gains opportunities.
There's also the option of starting a business in Spain. For investors who are looking to establish a business in Spain, there is a kind of entrepreneur visa which will grant them temporary residence. You should do a little more investigating on the issue because there are a few legalities in place, such as employing Spanish citizens. But the point is that there are numerous investment opportunities that could be very beneficial.
Golden Visa
The Spain Golden visa programme was launched in 2013. If you invest 500,000 EUR in real estate your family will gain residency. You can renew your Spanish investor visa every two years, and after five years you will be entitled to permanent residency, and after ten years you will get citizenship.
Healthy Diet
If you’re a foodie, Spain is one of the greatest blends of tasty, regional cuisine. And the best part is that it’s a healthy diet. For years experts have been discussing the goodness of the Mediterranean diet. The traditional Spanish diet consists of fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, olive oil, grains, and also red wine. You can’t get much healthier than that.
Spain has a big agriculture industry which means that a lot of the food that you find in grocery stores and restaurants has been locally grown. What’s more thanks to the great climate, you could even set up your own garden and grow produce all year round.
Quality of life
Nobody can deny that Spain offers a great quality of life. It’s such a diverse country that it’s essentially several countries in one. Whether you enjoy hiking, lounging on the beach, mountain views or ocean views, rocky coves, tropical climate, sleepy rural villages or modern cities, Spain truly has something to offer everyone. There is so much to see and do in Spain that you can never really get bored.
Spain has a great outdoor life to offer. The climate makes it perfect for leading a healthy and active lifestyle, or just spending some time outdoors soaking up the sun. If you enjoy running, cycling, swimming, water sports, or winter sports, you will absolutely love it here. It’s also very easy to get around the country so no matter where you settle down, you will have the opportunity to explore other parts of the country. The high-speed and suburban train lines connect many cities, and there are various bus routes throughout the country. Believe it or not, getting from Madrid to the South coast can take less than four hours.
Friendly locals
Last, but quite possibly most important and the biggest attraction of Spain, is the people. This is a notoriously welcoming nation that will make you feel right at home. The Spanish people are warm and engaging and will go out of their way to help one another out. Spaniards are big on enjoying life and put a high value on family and friends.
Spain has a culture of being laid back and relaxed, and most of the locals are friendly and easygoing. If you make a little bit of an effort to understand and engage with their culture, you will probably find that most locals will welcome you with open arms.
