HISPANIC GASTRONOMY

09 NOV 21

There is nothing better than traveling and being able to try cuisines that are completely different from your own. This is why one of the best ways to know and explore a culture is through their traditional dishes. Hispanic dishes are one of the best in the world with rich flavors and beloved cuisines.

This blog will explore some of the most famous dishes that the Hispanic culture has to offer.

CUBA

Cuba has many exciting dishes, such as ropa vieja. This typical Cuban dish originated in Spain, more specifically in the Canary Islands. It is made with leftover shredded meat such as chicken or beef, and takes advantage of what is commonly known in Spain as "leftovers" from other meals. This famous dish can be accompanied with an endless number of ingredients.

MÉXICO

Mexican cuisine is loved and enjoyed by people worldwide, and one of the most famous dishes is cochinita pibil. This dish is a traditional Mexican pulled pork that dates back to the Mayan civilization. The pork is marinated with achiote, wrapped in banana leaves, and cooked in an earth oven. Although cochinita pibil is popular, Mexico is also blessed with dishes such as mole, pozole, enchiladas, and chiles en nogada.

ARGENTINA

What is the best way to get all your friends together to enjoy a meal? By having an Argentine asado. The asado is a type of Argentine barbeque that involves huge tables of meat cooked on a grill. The different kinds of meat usually grilled are chorizos, morcillas, chinchulines, beef or pork matambre, and ribs. Argentina’s other unique cuisines include locro (a thick squash stew), choripan, Argentinian empanadas, and the delicious dulce de leche.

SPAIN

If there is one thing the Spanish can undoubtedly boast about, it is their gastronomy. For example, jamón is a dry-cured ham that is known around the world and is one of the most popular food items in Spanish cuisine. The country also has a wide variety of flavors and dishes, including tortilla de patatas, paella, gazpacho, fabada, and Galician octopus, each typical of its region.

PERÚ

In Peru, one of the most iconic dishes of the country is ceviche. The dish is bursting with the freshest flavors and top-quality fish. It is usually paired with other seafood and seasoned with citrus fruits that enhance its flavor.

Peru is also blessed with other fine cuisines such as lomo saltado, aji de gallina, causa limeña, pachamanca, and many others.
